The northern route: from the walls of Otranto to Salento's most photographed bay, sailing past caves and coves

Baia dei Turchi is one of the most famous beaches in Puglia: fine white sand, pine forest behind and a sea that fades from turquoise to deep blue. In summer, reaching it by land means queues and long walks in the sun; by boat you arrive from its best side, the open sea, and drop anchor where the water is clearest, far from the crowds.
The northern route departs from the Otranto Tourist Port and follows the coast past Mulino d'Acqua Bay with the spectacular Grotta Sfondata, then continues towards Baia dei Turchi and the Alimini Lakes coastline. Swimming and snorkelling stops at the spots chosen by the skipper, with the equipment already on board.
- Baia dei Turchi from the sea, away from the crowds
- Grotta Sfondata and Mulino d'Acqua Bay
- Swimming and snorkelling stops with equipment included
- Salento aperitivo at anchor in the bay
Why see it from the boat
From the sea, Baia dei Turchi shows its most beautiful profile: the crescent of pale sand framed by the pine forest, and water so transparent the anchor seems to hang in mid-air. You swim in peace, away from the crowds, and take photos that are impossible from land.
The stops on the northern route
The walls of Otranto seen from the sea, Mulino d'Acqua Bay and Grotta Sfondata, the Alimini Lakes coastline and Baia dei Turchi. Every outing can be customised: more time for swimming, more cave exploring, or simply the pleasure of cruising.
Aperitivo in turquoise water
The aperitivo with Salento products is served at anchor in the bay: a cold glass with your feet in the most beautiful water of Salento is the right way to end the morning or afternoon.

Frequently asked questions
Can you go ashore at Baia dei Turchi?
The tour includes swimming stops at anchor in front of the beach: the shore is just a few metres' swim away. It is the most comfortable way to enjoy the bay while avoiding queues and long walks.
What is the best time of day?
In the morning the sea is usually calmer and the water clearer; in the afternoon the light is warmer for photos. We will advise you based on the season and the forecast.
Can the itinerary change?
Yes: with northerly winds the skipper may suggest the coast south of Otranto, towards the wild Baia delle Orte, just as spectacular. The decision is taken together, always favouring calm seas and safety.
